Coconut Chutney is a South Indian side-dish and condiment prepared for idli, dosa, vada or other breakfasts.
Servings: 4
Ingredients
To Grind
- 1 cup Fresh Shredded Coconut
- ½ inch Ginger
- 4-5 Cashew
- 2 Green Chili
- a small piece Tamarind
- ½ cup Coriander Leaves
- 2 tsp Roasted Channa Dal (Dalia)
- Salt (to taste)
- Water (as required)
For Seasoning
- 1 tsp Oil
- ½ tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1 tsp Urad Dal
- ¼ tsp Asafoetida / Hing
- few Curry Leaves
- 1 Broken Red Chili
Instructions
- Blend all the ingredients well to a smooth consistency. Add water again and blend if needed. Adjust salt as per taste.
- To season, heat a tsp oil in a pan, add mustard seeds once it crackles add urad dal, saute until golden, add hing, curry leaves, and red chili. Pour this over chutney and mix well.
- Serve with Idli, dosa, vada or several other breakfasts.
