Mushrooms often referred as “functional foods” with various health benefits. Here is a tasty yet simple mushroom sambar(without dal) commonly made in south India.

Ingredients
- ½ Onion (chopped)
- 8-10 Mushrooms (quartered)
- ½ cup Coconut Milk
- 1 tsp Oil
- 1 cup Water
For Grinding Masala :
- 1 Tomato (roughly chopped)
- ½ onion (roughly chopped)
- 3 Garlic cloves
- 1 inch Ginger
- ½ tsp Chilli Powder
- 1 tsp Coriander /Dhania Powder
Instructions
- Rinse mushroom thoroughly, pat dry and cut in quarters.
- Blend tomato, onion, ginger, garlic, chili powder and dhania powder to a fine paste.
- In a Kadai, add oil and fry onions until translucent.
- Next, add in ground masala, sauté for a while before adding water.
- Add water as per consistency required, salt to taste. When begins to boil add mushrooms and cook for 2-3 mins.
- Lastly, turn the heat down to low, add coconut milk and do not boil. Stir the dish constantly while it is cooking to avoid curdling for about a min.
- Simple and tasty Mushroom Curry is ready to be served with steamed rice !!
